The Bulgarian trip to Sofia, Plovdiv and Rila Mountains.
Hi guys,
When i was doing my research on how to travel around Bulgaria, i did find a lot of information on internet that was very helpful. However, this is my take to explain my experience of going around in bulgaria. Also, i do intend to have these memories documented as this was my first major european trip other than the Paris trip which i did in february 2017.
Dates in bulgaria - 25th Till 27th August(7 AM)
Landed in Sofia - Around 00:00 Hours on 25th.
Stay- In Sofia, Osogovo Street.
I will list out experiences from the trip to Bulgaria:
1) Vitosha Street: This is one major happening street in Sofia. I had walked down this street multiple times, all the three nights that i spent in Sofia. This place is filled with charming restaurants, bars, fine Dines, peppy music, and amazing people. If you like the night life and especially under yellow lights, than one should not miss this place. Its full of life, and you can also see a few artists doing trendy paintings and winning your hearts as well on these street. Most of the restaurants and places offer outside seating and with so much happening on the streets, this offers amazing experience to sit back, relax and enjoy the music and food. Infact i would rate the experience of this place better than any of the streets that i went around in London. Here is one of my pics from this place.
2)Alexander Nevsky Cathedral: This is one of most elegant churches i have seen in Europe. It is beautifully domed up from the top and looks amazing in it greenish tinge. The square in front of it is quite huge and gives great photographic scope. This place is also the pickup point for major day tours around Bulgaria.
3) Walk around the sofia city Center Area: Well, this is something which i just loved. This city has huge beautiful buildings that brighten up under lights. With the trams going around and these buildings in the backdrops, the nights offer some great scope for landscape photography. Though i went in the summer, i did see some photographs from winters where the streets were covered with Snow and illuminating lights around these buildings made some great pictures.
Some of these Buildings: Former Bulgarian Communist Party Headquarters, National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Eagle Bridge, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
4) Do not miss the Pizza's - Well, i am a vegetarian and surprisingly i found quite many pizza outlets around the city. They do offer pizzas on slice basis almost everywhere. If you are a pizza fan, and if you like veggie Pizzas, do not give these chances a miss. I loved specifically one outlet just by the tram line, near vitosha street, run by a very cheerful elderly lady who wishes chao/bye to almost every customer. They did make some great veg Margarita Pizzas.
5) Do not miss the Falafel Wraps: I found one amazing eatery shop near the metro station on todor Alexandrov Street. This guy made some of most amazing wraps. I ate a falafal wrap almost every time i could from this shop. Plus point, this shop was open 24 by 7 and he made vegetarian Falafals. i later tried an omelette (i eat eggs) wrapped in a bun along with other salads from the same shop. Turns out he makes some really good omelettes as well.
Trips outside of Sofia:
6) Day Trips to Plovdiv - Plovdiv is a Bulgarian historical city which is also an European cultural capital. Its the second largest city of Bulgaria, and if you like history, you can visit this during the many day trip offered. I did take a day trip to this place, and i felt it would have been much better under the lights.
7) Rila Mountains and Rila Lakes Treks - I did take a one day full trek of 10 hours to this place and i was not disappointed. It was a decent trek with the trek to the last point being the toughest. It does get really hot during summers and is advisable to take sun tans and caps etc. I had a tan for a week after i returned from the trek. The views were beautiful and water from the lakes sparkled. From the top point one can see 6 lakes together . All in all, it was a great experience. You can take the many tours offered to this place.
My advice is not to club the Rila monastery and seven lakes together as you might not be able to cover the best points to view all the lakes through this trip. it took us a good 7-8 hours to cover the trek alone. i did not go to rila monastery as i had a very tight schedule.
P.S : An honest attempt to give a perfect description of my 2.5 day tour to Bulgaria and i was enthralled every moment by this city. The only moments i lost was 5 hrs of sleep each day :)
There are many other treks and available tours to other places in Bulgaria. This is just a description of my trip and to help someone who plans to have a similar tour.

Royalties Petrified...
There's a destiny, that waits for me..
A wind that pushes me ..
A power that upholds me ,
A wave that drowns me ,
A vison that eludes me.
A Threshold that kills me ,
A Domain that loves me,
A love that propels me,
A hate that destroys me .
The power is within,
The feeling is within,
The density is within,
The distance is within..
Still the power is powerless,
The density is weightless,
The distance is immeasurable,
The feeling is restless....
Struggle is for the day when the power strikes,
When the density grows beyond and there is no distance to travel,
and there is no restlesness but only feelings which are full of energy and enthusiasm..
